Karl teases a photographer for having interrupted
I couldn’t help but go to see Karl Urban again. He is so animated and funny, I very much wanted to get some photos of him with Rob’s awesome backup camera! I wish I had the space to retell the story of his being pranked on the set of Star Trek (a story available elsewhere on the net). Instead, enjoy a few images from his re-enactment of the reveal!
Karl gave one of the best answers of the convention: When asked to pick his favourite director, he used humour to remind fans that the answers he and other celebs give at conventions can affect their career. Instead of giving a straight answer, he dropped into an aside: Playing out the internal monologue of an actor, such as himself, trying to decide between two highly influential directors. Karl considered aloud who he is more likely to work with, admitting that he didn’t want to piss off JJ Abrams (shooting for the third Star Trek starts early next year, he revealed), but… Then he pretended to give an answer, while making static noises into the mic (complete with his voice popping in and out), only to end the static when he’d “finished” his answer. He deflected a trying question with humour and grace, but in such a way that no one missed his message.
